Its the most wonderful time of the year

Gabe's first day of first grade. He was very excited to go and jumped on the bus without hesitation. So far, in his words, first grade is the best! We'll have to see if that changes when homework starts.


This past weekend Cory decided to stay home from work and spend extra time to celebrate our last weekend of summer break. The boys slept in late and then piled in bed to watch TV with Cory. Cartoons of course.
The boys then helped Cory replace a door in the basement and then we headed out to Lowes (eek, a non-Home Depot trip? Aliens have overtaken Cory's mind) to get supplies for house projects that we've all been begging for. I wanted a DIY diaper sprayer and a reason to get out of the house. We left the store with plumbing supplies for my project (which Cory put together of course), and roof flashing and trim to use in Gabe's room. We have been slowly redoing Gabe's room into an artist studio. The flashing we mounted and framed in for a magnetic story board area along three walls, it actually turned out better than we thought. Everyone helped, even if they didn't want to. You would think the boy wanting the magnetic strip along his wall would want to help out, but no, he sat and worked on artist projects. However, Micah was more than willing to use the power tools. Gabe did eventually help, and found his favorite tool... the stud finder. We heard beeping for the next four hours as he found every stud in the house.
